Artist's Description

The Council Overhang is on the main trail 4 miles from the Visitors Center and Lodge at Starved Rock State Park in Utica Illinois. A large part of the trail runs along the Illinois River.
The Council Overhang is a large cave like amphitheater carved in the rock where the Indians used to have their council meetings. It was also used as a shelter from the weather.
I set up my tripod as deep in the cave as possible shooting out toward the bright autumn yellow trees lining the outside.
